Steam Backup Folder??

So after lookin to see what games take up most of my HDD, I noticed there was a decent chunk in the Backups Folder.(C:\Program FIles\Steam\Backups). I went to look through there and obviously the file names are just random numbers that mean nothing to me. So I was wondering, what is in this folder and what does it do exactly? Like what does it actually Backup or can I just delete what's in there?

its probably folder for games you backup ?with steam backup feature which is useless for me .

That's kinda what i'm thinking but I don't backup any of my games?? :X I haven't chosen to backup any of them.

my backup folder is empty and its for steam game backups if you try backup a game you see it points to that backup folder.

Hm, I don't rememebr ever backing up any of my games like that but oh well, gonna delete the contects and RUN WITH IT!
