Steam Wallet Gift Cards
I bought a Steam wallet gift card (in a store near my house), and when I got home the code was already used. I've put a ticket in two days ago, but no response. I spent $100 on this damn code and I can't get my money back from the store "because I scratched the back of the card, you must talk with the company it is used with." What can I do since Steam seems to have just taken my money and walked away.

Okay, so you have gone to Steam Support and created a single ticket:
https://support.steampowered.com/

Next attach your proof of purchase to that ticket, a photo of your receipt. However, making sure to write your Support Ticket number on the receipt in pen (You'll need to create your ticket to get your Ticket number and then add to your ticket with the photo afterwards).

If the place you purchased the Steam Wallet code isn't an unauthorized seller and it's not a fake, nor had it's back been scratched off before purchase... they should be able to help you. It's highly unlikely someone is able to figure out that code without being able to see it - but a small possibly. Steam Support might be able to figure out which Steam Account it's been used upon or if you typoed or made some mistake.

It might take them some time to response. Be patience and only have one ticket open for it.

Also, check under your username (top-right) of the Steam Client, Account details. Ensure it hasn't actually gone through already, but just glitched as not showing on your display. If that's the case, you might just need to restart your Steam Client.

I've never had a problem with Walmart until now. There have been scams for Steam cards, what if they got into Valve's system? Would you still use Steam?

What scams for steam cards are you talking about? Like when some user promises to send you a 50$ code for a 10$ gift/item?

They don't want to lose users due to stupid little things like this, do they? I might switch to U-Play or some other ♥♥♥♥ and just say ♥♥♥♥ these games and all of Valve. I'm really getting pissed about this now.

Walmart's rep is giving you the run around because not surprisingly A) They don't know you're telling the truth and B.) The longer you spend time futzing with steam the more likely you ar eto lose your receipt or run out the clock on your refund window.

I have went to the store twice now. I have tried to argue with them, talk to new employees, and representatives, they all say the same thing: I cannot get a refund because I scratched off the back. I couldn't have known the product was faulty or already used without scratching it off. I have told them that. They don't care, I cannot get a refund from Walmart.

And you won't get one from Steam.
See your problem is tricky. The code does not say error, or invalid. which would be evidence of a misprint. It says it has already been used.


See ift from Walmarts side. You bought a $100 scratch cards. Left the store. Scratched it and then returned claiming the number on it was valid but already used by someone else. Imagine yourself as a Walmart Manager hearing that story. Sounds like BS don't it.

Now see it from Steam's side. You, a nameless faceless account holder are asking for them to give you $100 because the card, that they can never conclusively prove you purchased, had a code that was in use by someone else. They can logically assume the person with the card active must be the rightful owner. Since if contacted that person would say, I bought the card and activated it which on steam's end checks out because it's been activated on their account. can you show Anything that could not have been scrounged from someone else's waste basket? NOpe.

I'm aware this post is very old but i'd like to know what OP ended up doing? I'm having the same issue but with another store and I am extremely frustrated right now as Steam and the said store are making me go back and forth. I'd at least like to get my money back.

Yeah chances are that was when the shennanigans occured. Make a note never to buy from that place again.

i know this is an old thread but i agree with this , they might scam you out of 50 bucks , but if you no longer buy from the store , in the long run they lose more money than you

they rob 50€ from you , next time you need 100-200€ for a big sale, you dont buy it from them , or next time you need a new keyboard or headset , you also wont buy it from them
