game crashes when plugged into tv

this has only started happening the past couple weeks what happens is i plug my laptop into my tv and go to launch a game and i just get a black screen this happens with any game i launch. i done a little bit of research and tried nearly everything but just saw online someone saying that if i put my sound setting to my laptop it will work and it does but when i revert it back to the sound to come out of my tv it crashes again. ive updated my audio drivers and still crashing just wondering if anyone has ever had the same problem that could maybe help me out with the issue thanks.

Check settings, for example changing TV to PC. It can be a lot of stuff, so not sure to tell.
