Big Picture Mode kills my Windows 10 taskbar
Windows 10, 64 bit, dual monitors, with taskbar only on the left, set to autohide. When I use Big Picture Mode, the taskbar will become transparent, though it still comes up, and all icons are gone. No links, nothing. I have to ctrl-alt-del in order to restart my PC and get back to normal.

So guess how often I use Big Picture Mode. :) I only did today in order to update the firmware for my controller.

Did you ever find a solution for this issue? I recently had to do a fresh install of Windows 10 and now anytime I use Big Picture it's doing the same thing for me; the only difference is I can make the Taskbar visible again by pulling up the Task Manager (shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and restarting the Windows Explorer process. I'm really hoping to find a solution since I use Big Picture to play games on my TV and it's annoying to have to use that workaround every time.

Thanks.

First of all, does it also happen when the taskbar doesn't autohide?

I have stopped using Big Picture, so I can't say I solved the problem. My taskbar is always in Autohide.

I just tested it out with my taskbar set to not autohide and it didn't have the issue after exiting out of Big Picture, so there's definitely some kind of issue going on there. I much prefer my taskbar to be hidden when I'm not using it, though, since I do a lot of Photoshop and Illustrator work, so I guess I'll have to deal with it until the issue gets resolved or someone can point me to a more permanent fix.

I am having this same issue, and it doesn't mater if my task bar is locked or not or hidden or anything. The taskbar is empty and clear when I exit big picture mode. I think I found a work around.

When you hover over your taskbar the edge of it comes out. It's just a line but you can see where the taskbar should be. Click on the line when you hover over it and see a <-> and it will refresh it and show it.

So annoying but at least I can play big picture mode and not have to restart my PC afterwards. I hope this helps others.

My taskbar with new BPM is hidden, but there's a slight bit of desktop at the bottom. BPM doesn't go to the bottom of the screen
