Skype and gaming problem

I have a problem with skype and games, whenever I play a game and have a call with my friends on skype after a while it makes like a repeating sound (2 sec) and then there's no sound at all. Neither on skype, the game or anything. This only happens when I use Skype and whenever this happens I close Skype and the game and the sound comes back.

That is the Audio Driver cutting out.
Is it just basic onboard sound? If so what Motherboard brand+model do you have?

BTW, never use Skype like that. If you need voice comms for team-play... use TeamSpeak, Discord or others. Skype is a resource hog and will usually drop-out because it can't keep a good stable connection while you're doing online gaming, etc.

I will continue to push Discord. It is free and just as good as TeamSpeak has ever been. It allows all that freedom, as well as channel creators to make their Discord not just for Voice based rooms, but also as an information-sharing resource. Many streamers are using it now, allowing their subs to easily do voice comms when playing with them, plus allows for great source of info, or with commicating with others that connect with/follow that person. Anyone is free to setup their own Discord channel and link things like Twitch, Steam, etc.

Skype is for video calling family/co-workers, not much more.
Ever since it was taken over by Microsoft, it has gone down hill, and does not continue to get any better with updates.

Yea I know skype isn't good at all but me and my friends have always used that and it's pretty simple (you don't have to hire any servers or do rooms and such and you can just call easy and create group calls easily)

Yeah laptop + skype + gaming, pretty much solved your own problem.
To much multi tasking going on for that laptop to be using skype at the same time.

But you could also try updating your network drivers, see if that makes a difference. But all in all its due you doing to much on that laptop.

I mean it's a quad core i5 processor and should be able to handle it, it also have 8 gb ram. The only thing really lacking is my graphics card but do skype really use that much of the gpu?

its a quad core yes, but its still a laptop.
Laptop hardware is ALWAYS weaker than their Desktop counterparts.

You could try setting your Windows power settings to Performance, see if that helps.
But all in all it simply may not be strong enough to do all that.

Well sure but my computer is actually a very good one, don't let the name laptop fool you on that one. It still have a pretty beast cpu and 8 gb ram, I agree desktops are better and my desptop is indeed better than my laptop but I think my laptop only lacks a good gpu compared to a desktop gpu :/
Although I still think it's not a problem with my laptop but something with either the soundcard or skype itself since skype did work fine before with no sound problems at all.
And yeah putting it on performance do increase for instance fps in games but the problem with skype still remains, I guess I just gotta use ts for now.
Could it be a new skype update that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ everything up?
