Fix for PS4 controller vibration issues on games that support the PS4 controller.

Games without native support are actually easier to use the PS4 controller at first glance. I just start DS4Windows and then start the game. Fully functioning controller with vibration. The problem is that if you have DS4Windows already open or just closed completely, games that natively support the controller will read it as a PS4 controller. It's great that games are starting to support it, but bad for anyone who wants vibration. Hopefully soon we will get full PS4 controller support.

This is what I do to fix it. Open the game (Mad Max and Doom Open Beta are two that I know have native support), wait until you are at the main menu, and THEN minimize the game and open DS4Windows. Do not open it before you launch the game. Make sure your controller is connected before and after the process. If your controller becomes disconnected while playing, it will revert back to native support. You could probably just close and reopen DS4Windows, but I haven't tried it yet.

This will work on both bluetooth and USB wired connections. I hope this helps someone having the same issue that I was having.

It’s been 3 years since my post. They may have updated the software since then. I stopped using my PS4 controller as it was more of a hassle than it was worth.

That being said, I can try, but I need information like what software you are using and the methods you have tried to fix your issue.

I use a steam controller as my main controller now. Last year they were selling them for around $5 before they were discontinued.

You can't have Steam open when you load DS4Windows. You MUST Load DS4Windows first. You also need to have Hide DS4Windows selected in it's options. Loading DS4Windows after Steam is already loaded results in them fighting for control of the DS4.
