Game I never purchased shows up in library installed. Deleted it now can't reinstall.
One day a few months ago I noticed a game I never bought or had gifted to me show up installed and ready to play in my games library called 'Men at War: Assault Squad 2". Today I was making room on my hard drive by uninstalling all the games I didn't play often. When I got to this game the usual message popped up:

"This will delete all Men at War: Assault Squad 2 game content from this computer. The game will remain in your Games Library, but to play it in the future you'll have to first re-download its content""

So I went ahead and removed it but it fully disappeared from my library! I never played the game and I don't know what the deal is but I'm not sure if it was a glitch that I even had the game appear in my library in the first place or if I just forgot I bought it.

Will I ever get this game back?

Games don't magically install themselves or disappear from your account. Check your account history.

Maybe you were using Family Sharing, or it belongs to another Steam account that you or someone else on your computer was using before.

Yeah it's not in the history or licences. Is there any way to track Family Sharing games that were available at some point? I used to live in a house with roommates so maybe it showed up then. However I've lived by myself with a secured wifi connection for a few years now and only noticed it within the last 6 months. I most likely would have noticed it years ago if this was the case.

Well you could ask everyone who shared your Steam account if they installed the game.

Same thing happened to me. Just today two games under "all games" are appearing when I have never installed them, and never played them. I don't share my account, and my history is correct, so I don't see why these games should appear.

This is so strange! Tomb Raider 2013 suddenly just appeared in my library. I didn't buy it!

Tomb Raider 2013 was free to keep for a short while earlier this year. What are the chances you claimed it there and forgot about that?

What does this say: https://store.steampowered.com/account/licenses/

I'll write it again, okay? The game JUST APPEARED here in my library, just A MOMENT AGO. I DIDN'T buy it. Anyway, good for me. I just came here to see if it happened to someone else.

Just checking the licenses page to see when it got added to the account is too hard? Ok then.

It APPEARED SUDDENLY JUST SOME MINUTES AGO. I DIDN'T BUY IT. Jesus...

The licenses page isn't just for purchases, it also lists when games got added for free (it writes Complementary then). The purchases tab only lists games that got purchased on Steam.

You wouldn't be the first person to check the license tab, see that the game got added months ago but through an error of filters somehow didn't show up before. Or forgot they added something and didn't see it before in a list of games that's too long to remember every title.

But it's clear that you rather take some seconds to argue then take some seconds to check when the license got added. If it's on today, you know you got a complimentary gift from the publisher.

Man, I have brain. Checking the license tab was THE FIRST THING I DID WHEN THE GAME POPED OUT IN MY LIBRARY. I don't know why you're being so annoyng and useless. And thats why this is my last reply to you. You're making me waste my time.

It has the option to download and install, so yes.
