Once you get that, you go into your steam app on your computer and go to Games > Activate a product on steam. Then it will have a space for you to put your code. It'll look like this: https://gyazo.com/4938e9fb71274d700ef4b1296330803d
Then once you enter the code you'll get a screen that says what game you got and the download will begin.
Never trade them for them though, chances are you'll get scammed by either the code not working or it having been obtained by ill means in which case the key will likely get revoked on a later day.
There's no real standard for product keys, though 3 by 5 seems to be the most common these days.
