It doesn't cost that much. You can get almost to level 10 with other badges. Get the community badge for 500 XP, that's halfway right there. Turn an item into gems for another 100. Your profile is private so I can't see how many games you have, but depending on that, you can have even more XP from the game collector badge. You get a little more from the Years of Service badge depending on how old your account is (50 XP per year).

The cheapest card sets cost about 30 cents, so you can get the rest of the XP you need for cheap. Here's the calculator I use:

im lvl 10 now and i can buy lvl 10 for 19.55 ref in tf2
