I wanna buy a friend the new upgrade to dead island:Riptide but for some reason can't gift it but he has the original riptide so my confusion is why can't I gift him a copy? I posted this on the riptide forums and no response I'm wondering if this is a steam issue? Other people said they bought an addition copy for a friend but it's greened out and i can't do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I rebooted steam and that didn't help.

Nope I'm using steam wallet and he has no money so I wanted to do this aand can't so weird I mean I can't gift anyone a copy the green light is dark green the buy a gift is dark green.

I just checked and I am not able to buy a gift copy of it either.

If people have the loyalty discount for owning Dead Island and/or Dead Island: Riptide, they would be able to buy many gift copies of the definitive editions and resell them to those who do not have the loyalty discount. Gifting is probably disabled for people who have the loyalty discount to stop that from happening.

Can you buy a Steam Wallet code and give the code to your friend?

My steam wallets are already bound to my account. Activated them the same day I got them.

Ahhh, that's too bad. I hope that either your friend finds a way to get the money on his account so he can buy it, or the restriction on buying it as a gift is lifted soon.

I guess they fixed that then. I had my friend toss me a Definitive Edition of Dead Island: Riptide.

I for one wouldn't buy it just to sell it to a friend when I gift a copy that's all it is nothing more and not asking for anything in return.
