Steam on different Windows accounts problem
Right, so on my laptop I have two user accounts, one Admin one User. I have Steam installed on both currently, and I would like to delete the one on the User account. So I go to Control Panel, yet I see Steam, along with all my games (that are only installed on the Admin account) there. So, if I uninstall Steam on the User account while logged into User account, will the one on the Admin account be also deleted? Clear answers please, and thank you for your time.

Yes

Uninstalling Steam will result in Steam's Client software being completely removed from your Windows system.

I do not believe Steam offers per-user installations.

Deleting any of the users should not affect the install as long as the install files are not in that user's Windows-generated folder, such as C:\Users\Username. If the install is in a global or non-user specific folder, such as C:\Program Files, then deleting a user will not affect anything.

I see. So there's no other way? For example, can I perhaps uninstall Steam, but back-up the game's local files or something?

That you can, yes. Use Steams backup function.

You can back up the files but the Steam Client will be uninstalled globally (all users) if you uninstall it.

A backup is useful if you wish to reinstall Steam with the same game data and settings.

But backing up the files means I have to take just as long as I first installed these games to install them again? Or is it just Steam uninstalled but the games remain, just that I can't play them since Steam is gone?

Does all the games also get deleted or just rendered unable to be played?

Even if the games wouldn't get uninstalled, you cant play them without Steam.

You cannot play any Steam games with the Steam Client uninstalled from your computer. The games will be deleted if you uninstall Steam, which is why a backup is required to do so. Is your end goal removing a user account? There's no reason to remove Steam unless your files are located in that user's directory.

My end goal is to remove Steam from the User's account and not the Admin's account.
The games get deleted? And it takes time to get them re-installed, yes?

How is Steam on the other user's account and the admin's? Did you install it directly to the user's Windows directory and on the admin's Windows directory?

If not, the program is installed globally (probably in C:\Program Files) and you can just change the Windows security permissions to deny all access to users except administrators or your specific admin account.

You can't. You can however prevent the user from running Steam.

I think so, yes.

I don't believe two installations of Steam are even possible on one Windows machine. Please check where your Steam Client installation path is, most likely in your program files (C:\Program Files), or if on 64-bit C:\Program Files (x86).

Dude, describe exactly what you want. Do you want the user to be unable to use Steam?
