when its at something% and you turn off the computer the files you downloaded are still there.
No it does work, what most likely happend is that the game had an update/patch in the time you had the download paused. If that happens and the download starts again Steam checks the download files version and if it finds newer files ( because of the patch) he will delete the old ones and start from the beginning.
Can be quite annoying.
I did it myself on a desktop with a game of 20 of 29Gb,
and it still runs fine when starting back up my pc.
How i did it:
- go to download
- pause the dowload
- close steam with the X
- wait 5 min.
- shut down the pc with the provided shut down button in the start menu
- let the pc shut down
- leave it there
DO NOT PULL THE PLUG / POWER OF YOUR PCAnd Indeed, if you have a update from windown or the game it may restart over.
So, yes, just shutdown your pc, ignore tips which make you do anything.
and wtachout for auto clear app that flush temp files , plenty of them
