How to enable Steam Overlay on a Mac?

The overlay is enabled by default. If your friend disabled it, he can enable it at the same place where he disabled it.

my friend is so knowledgeless in steam that he probably doesn't even know he can disable it

So do you, instead, want to say "How to fix it if the overlay isn't opening when it's in fact not disabled"?
If yes, the Steam support page, as pretty much always, has the answer.

no, i instead want to say what do you need to press to activate steam overlay
such as, on a windows, it's shift and tab to activate the overlay, while on a mac, it's?
i've searched steam support page but didn't find that

1. Open any game from Steam.
2. Simply open your eyes. When the overlay loads, it tells you what to press to call it in a notification in a corner of the screen.
3. Or even simpler, look up in the Steam settings. The hotkey is there, clearly named.

Ìnstead of hoping, tell him. If you're on MacOS, you can look it up yourself.
