Selling a physical copy
Hello. I was wondering if it's possible to sell a physical copy of a game I bought years ago and it came with a steam code. From what I read it's not possible to do that with a digital copy but I didn't find enough information about if you own a physical copy.

Thanks in advance.

CD-keys are one time only. If you've used the key, then it can't be re-used.
Friend bought Far cry 3 for the Xbox 360 used.

Had to buy a key from Ubisoft or whatever.

Yay! ;D

I see...but what if you delete the game of your library, that option was not there before. By doing that, are you giving up that key or am I wrong?

It won't render the CD-key re-usable; nor will it remove any stats or achievements either.

It only deletes the game from your public profile. In fact, it can even be restored from the same page under [It's not in my library]

(With issues here and there if you're simultaneously being shared the game to by someone else; easy fix being to temporarily disable SFS and then fetch the license back.)

You could call it "Hide the Game - Tier 2", but it won't actually permanently delete your game.

Someone has said that deleted games aren't deleted any longer but just removed from your view but you can still get them back.

The license stuff for games is kinda crap. With DRM-free games I guess nothing is stopping it from being selled (well, license maybe) but people may not want to buy such a game because "it's not DRM protected" so ..

How much time do you actually have to restore a game? I restored a game I deleted a few months ago.
It seems to me it's just a "hide from library" button for those who don't want other people to see a game on their profile.

I don't think there's a time frame. I've had a game removed since December and it's now May. It's still retrievable. Come June 5th, it will have been 6 months.

Games you've bought longer ago (2013 for example) are also retrievable, whatever its acquisition method was.

That's ultimately what it is.

The only two three real gains I can see in it are
  1. If the multipack of a game is cheaper for the 3 games than it would be for the 3 games sold alone. (You can remove the game, and rebuy the 4-pack for example.)

  2. If you want person A's DLCs via Steam Family Sharing for a game you own. (You can remove the game from your library, download the DLCs and return your game to your library.)

  3. To exclude games from being shared from your library to other people. (If they're family, just use Steam Family View on their account.)

That just deleted it from your library

The key you used is still permanently bound to your account and cannot be used elsewhere
