And what's your download speed then? And how big was the game's download size?

Yes has happen to me on many occasions, why should there be that much to download if you have the game disc

Practically you don't own the disc since there is no disc for steam Game you just own the software

Ive ince run into this (with a different huge game) when my internet was out and I seriously downloaded several dozens of gigabytes over LTE. That took days.

The box edition only has one dvd, the rest of the 39 gigs needs to be downloaded.

Steam does this. Even though you have the disc, it is just registering it to your account and then downloading the files anyway to make sure you are getting the latest build. I've had this issue with a few call of duty games and other titles so I just quit buying the discs. Unless you just want the box art and physical manual.

The retail doesn't have the game, it's Bethesda, not steam. The retail edition only has one dvd, with only 7 of the 43 gigs needed for the game. The publisher is too cheap to put in 5 or 6 DVDs.

Yup, 67GB (last week) download on a 2MB sec bandwidth took me 10 hrs. the disc has very little on it so I didn't even bother to use it.
