What's a good time to shop for games?
I consider myself a fairly casual gamer and I don't buy a lot of games, but there are some I wanted to try out. They're relatively cheap to begin with, but I don't want to buy some games when there are scheduled sale times right around the corner. Some I wanted to try out were Shovel Knight, Rocket league, Stardew Valley and there's some others I havn't fully decided on yet in my growing wish list. Again they're really cheap games, but if they're very likely to get a sale with the coming of the summer school break I can wait to save a quick buck. Is this likely to happen though?

Very likely to happen. Summer sale could be in June or early July.

There are two big sales on Steam, the Summer sale and the Winter Sale.
The Summer sale usually starts about a week or two before July 4th. So, somewhere next month.

You can also use websites like http://www.isthereanydeal.com to find good offers on games.

Yes. There are tons of sales on Steam and those indie titles often go on sales. Also, follow Humblebundle, Indiegala and similar.

Well FALL is usually the best time. Summer will have a few games but most of the sales will happen when summer starts. So be ready for a massive sale. Steam does this every year.
