Receiving a NVIDIA code
I bought a code from the reputable Keyninja on ebay.
It seems to be from his popularity that he is legit.

However the key im buying, requires me to sign my steam account into NVIDIA and redeem it there.

Is this totally safe and is this guy cool ?
I asked for a refund because i dont like signing my account on a link.

Never ever buy keys on ebay or any other key reseller websites, buy them on reputable sites that actually gets them from the developers.
Info why: https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/2yhlw4/key_resellers_and_what_they_mean_for_you/

If the store is on https://isthereanydeal.com/ then it should be legit.
Typically those are game codes that come bundled with Nvidia GPU's. If the seller is legit you should have no issues but buying keys off ebay is a risk.
Steam acts as an OpenID provider. As long as the web site does not ask you for your username or password, it is safe. Basically, Steam will inform the web site that you are in fact the owner of a given Steam account. Steam does not provide your login information to the web site. Steam will tell you before linking your account what information is given.

How will i know which it is ?
This is the steps i received before i asked for a refund:

1. Enter your coupon code and date of birth on geforce.com
2. Agree to the T&Cs.
3. You will now be requested to log into your Steam account.
4. Click the ‘Sign in through STEAM’ button.
5. You will be redirected to Steam sign-in page. Sign In

6. Allow NVIDIA access to Redeem and activate CD-Keys on your account. Click ‘Allow’.
7. You will now be redirected back to the redemption portal.

8. If successful, you should now see your Steam username. Confirm if correct. If you have made a mistake, click cancel to restart the process, otherwise click continue.
9. Enter in your additional information and whether you want to subscribe to the GeForce Newsletter, and click redeem.
10. The game will be automatically placed in your account. If successful, you will see a success message.

This is the important part right here. You don't sign in on Nvidia's site. You sign in on Steam, and Steam informs Nvidia that your credentials were valid.

So you actually think that Nvidia is somehow interested in hijacking Steam accounts...?
Yes, it's safe. Other than the fact that Nvidia itself is a reputable company, the fact that they are using Steam as an OpenID provider instead of asking for your login information means it's safe.
Ok thanks, he must be legit because he has a shop on ebay that many people buy from

It's a bit trickier to fake reputation on ebay, but by no means impossible. I would take reputation on any web site with a grain of salt.
