Family Library Manager
Hey, apparently I have two unknown users in my Family Library Manager.

What do I do?

Are they ticked or unticked?

If they're ticked, untick and see should they disappear.
If they're unticked, then they're not being shared to, it simply means they're users who've accessed your computer in the past.

Should they display as account names instead of usernames,
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config\
Open up loginusers.vdf with WordPad

Check the PersonaName and see if you recognize it.

If you want it removed, exit Steam, in the same folder as above,
either
  • a) Remove config.vdf. (This will affect libraries shared to you.)
  • b) Open up config.vdf with WordPad, remove said names under "Accounts", save the file

Then restart Steam.

Before I done any of that, I have already declined their pending access (which cleared their usernames) in Management (On the top area (the pc in question)), But...on the lower screen it has pending with only accept as an option, this might need a fix? :/

I restarted steam.

Anways (After that) in loginusers.vdf I seen no other users, and I don't see the need to delete config.vdf

Would you mind taking a screenshot, censoring anything sensitive, to showcase what you mean?

Please upload the screenshot here: http://imgur.com

I was about to send this edit.

edit: btw I have already deauthorized the device in question

Also I have checked my steam guard.

Everything now "seems" fine. I haven't accepted anything on my side.

Also I don't really care to give their usernames, if thats what you mean by sensitive.

But I will say one of them is not set up officially yet and the other is a level 0.

What does this look like to you?

Could it be possible that these people are intentionally trying something devious?

Or

because a computer logging into steam automatically shares stuff like this as default?

edit2: either way I haven't accepted them.

If there's nothing out of ordinary here, I'd not pay it too much mind.

https://store.steampowered.com/account/managedevices

However, it would be good to know how those account names have started displaying in the first place.

Simply sharing the same PC can have them display there unticked. If signed on that device at the given time.

Sure, It was a community computer, I did not save my logins or anything like that because of that. The only thing I didn't realise is that by default settings, steam authorizes that computer.

Which I have deauthored. :)

I should say my only gripe is that steam should not have authorized anything like this, by default.

The only other thing I can think of is accounts under the same email appear there by default. Of course you would have mentioned if you had any of those long ago, so probably not the reason. I don't want to insult your intelligence, just speaking out of experience, myself having a couple accounts under one email.

Nope, check my latest reply above yours.

And no, I have no reason for more than one account.

OK and yeah, I read them all (i never post without doing so).

I agree that Family Share leaves a lot to be desired logistically.
Jesse May 11, 2016 @ 12:19pm
I didn't know much about what Family Share was until I stumbled apon it haphazardly. For all I knew is the only way to share games was to let someone use your account!
HEART May 11, 2016 @ 12:22pm
It is a nice feature but is named family share for a reason. It really only should be done with family, thus the name. Friends often do it but even more often regret it later.

ah...but the question is, did these people try to add my library to theirs, assuming I would just "accept" it, without questions...?

Or does sharing a communal computer automatically make them pending for approval?

basically I just am wondering if they were trying to access my games or whether they genuinely were just people who signed in on the same computer?

You probably had something installed from your library on the computer.

Since the computer was authorized, anyone else attempting to access the said game would have them see the Request Access -prompt.

You likely got the request to share to your e-mail via that.

Since the computer is now de-authorized, any of your installed games they don't own should now just say [Buy]
