Need help finding a "mothership" game.

Not sure if this thread fits in here, I had a look at the pinned threads and I didn't see anything forbidding it, and technically I'm asking for help so, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place.

Now that's out of the way,

I'm looking for a "mothership" type of game. Something similar to star wolves 1, 2 or 3 that has a main focus on controlling/upgrading a mothership or dreadnaught if you will.

Homeworld was suggested to me a while ago, and I love the look of it but the only thing that is deterring me from purchasing is all the micro management involved.

I love Rebel Galaxy but unfortunately the game was very short, not much replay value and it seemed more of a "battleship" style game with its linear combat system.

I'm looking for something I can just chill out in space (preferably with 3 dimensions of movement), fly a mothership around and blast some things with a plethora of guns.

Any help or suggestions would be EXTREMELY appreciated!


TL;DR: Looking for a space game with the main focus as a mothership.

I watched a few videos about both games, i have to say SPAZ 2 looks quite the game, the only thing that may be a bit bothersome to a nitpicker like myself is that linear style of game play, in saying that i will be closely following SPAZ 2 and see how it goes after launch!

Any other cool suggestions?

Thank you for your suggestion! I reviewed freelancer, it looked great but possibly a bit outdated. I'm assuming the mod you were talking about lets you control a mothership instead of a fighter? If so I was more looking for a game from a birds eye view, aiming a ship would be great but I'd have to delve deeper :)

All I took from this was SPAZ has a sequel I need to buy, as that game is outstanding.

I agree it looks amazing, I was just looking for a single player, casual game though.

I'm trying to find something as close to the old star wolves games as possible for nostalgia purposes, as I've played them too many times now :(

I've checked out battleship armada warhammer as well and still it looks way too complicated and linear.

I love the look of "dreadnaught" but unfortunately it's only a multiplayer game :(

I'm still on the hunt, anyone have any more suggestions?
