Depends on the game.

Turn off Steam Cloud saving from under [Properties > Updates] if it supports that and then launch and save in the game once, then re-enable it.

If there's no Steam Cloud saving, then look up where the game saves its files, i.e. My Documents or AppData and remove the files manually from there. Good way to check is http://pcgamingwiki.com

Switch off Steam Cloud, run game, delete saves from inside game, reset settings(optional), out from game, check saves folders, delete saves, if they still here(optional, for some games), switch on Steam Cloud, when it ask, replace cloud copy with local copy i.e. upload, NOT download.

It is Dark Souls, i accidently switched it to 16 bit in game and now when i try to open game on my computer the screen is just black. I tried to uninstall it twice, and it keeps coming back with my old video prefferences and my saved game. HOw do i just get Dark Souls back to normal?

Hold down [Windows] and [R] -keys
%localappdata%

> NBGI -> DarkSouls -> DarkSouls.ini

See if you can change the color to 32-bit there?

Well, that's interesting, because the configuration file should be there.

Have you verified the game's cache? [Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache] and checked after that?

If you use Durante's DSfix, you can probably force it through that too.

Well, that's not necessary to get rid of your blank screen issue, but
  1. Right mouse click the game on Steam > [Properties > Updates]
  2. Untick this box,
    _
Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition

  3. Hold down [Windows] and [R] -keys
    %USERPROFILE%

  4. Navigate to this location
    My Documents\NBGI\DarkSouls\

  5. Remove the files in there.

  6. Start up the game, make a save.

  7. Turn Steam Cloud back on and it should inform you of a conflict and give you the options to whether download or upload. Choose to upload, because you want to stick to the files on your disk.
