Why do I keep getting this error message from W7

Whenever I load up a game I get this windows 7 dialogue box

I don't know why I am getting this message. My pc is running decently, I have an ok computer, I monitor my temps and everything is operating in normal range. my CPU usage can't be taking that much of a hit. How do I locate the problem?

PC set up :

16 gigs 1333MHz DDR3 RAM
128 gig Samsung 840 Pro (windows)
2 TB WD HDD (everything else)
intel i7 3770K
EVGA Geforce GTX 980 Hybrid

that message usually appears when vram is full, but your card is 4gig?
try reinstalling graphics card drivers and check bios settings regarding gpu settings.
