Problem installing games on different drives
Ive recently done a fresh windows install on an SSD. Ive got 3 other HDD's for storage, a 1TB, a 640GB and a 500GB.

What I wanted to do was pick and choose which games go on which drive. Some big games I play alot I want to put on the SSD to reduce load times etc, but all the indi games and others I'll put on one of the other drives.

I did a test with one indi game, when you click install it asks where you want to install and shows the default as C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

I scrolled down and changed to the H: drive. I thought I had the rest of the path written the same but after the game had installed the path is this H:\Program Files (x86)\steamapps, alongside the Steam folder, rather than inside it.

I uninstalled the game and deleted the steamapps folder from H:\ drive, then clicked install again. Here comes the problem. If I choose the H: drive, it now has an altered default path:
H:\Program Files (x86). It doesn't include \Steam like the C: drive. The other drives(G: and I:) say "Create new install location" or something.

I now can't change the default path for the H: drive. It allows me to type in a different path when selecting the H: drive but it still installs in the same place.

Any help would be great. If there's a whole other simpler way to do this that would also be great.

Cheers

Ensure the file path is correct under [Steam > Settings > Downloads], secondary library locations by default make a folder called 'SteamLibrary'; with "steam.dll" and a folder called 'steamapps' within that. If you want a folder called "Steam" for secondary locations, you have to name that yourself.

Offtopic, but unless you're dual booting, I don't understand why you even have a Program Files (x86) -folder on any other disk than your system disk?

Honestly, I don't know lol! I think I'm so used to the C: path that I just went with the same one out of habit. But it makes no sense when I think about it.
