Cannot Purchase as Gift

So I'm trying to purchase some games so I can gift them to a friend. I get this message, however:

"1Your account already owns some of the above items, so you can’t purchase them again. You can purchase these items as a gift or adjust the contents of your cart to continue."

It says I can purchase them as a gift, but the option isn't made clickable. What do I do?

When you go to your cart you should have two options:
-Purchase for myself
-Purchase as a gift
Click on the second one.

As I said, the options aren't made clickable. The buttons are there, but faded. It won't let me do anything with the items in my cart except remove them.

Try removing them and then adding them again. Sounds like it thinks the cart is empty.

If it's a multipack you're trying to buy, you can't buy those if you already own the game, because one game automatically is designated to you.

Weird: I removed both items, and when I added one, the Purchase as Gift option was lit back up, but when I added the other, it grayed back out again.

The games in question: Soma (worked) and Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition.

Its Ori. They disabled gift buying of this game since if you already owned it before you got the new version for 5 bucks instead of 20. Since a lot of users did abuse this to buy multiple gift copies for that low price ( which was not the point of the discount) to resell them on certain shady sites, the developer has disabled gift buying for the game. Will be back next week but gifts will cost the full 20 bucks price then as intended.

Even when the game was on legit sale for 5 bucks I couldn't purchase it fora friend. This was just during a sale...What a stupid way to deal with it. I believe the new Coupon system is making it so that people can't abuse it but like I can't believe they made such a mistake. I have recommended it to so many people, and I just wanted to get it for someone's birthday, but because of the fact that I already own it, I'm not allowed to purchase as a gift. Wouldn't the kinds of people buying games as gifts...already own them? Like who the hell gifts a game without ever having played it before?

currently the Borderlands franchise is on sale. I personally have all the games and want to purchase for a friemd
The Borderland GOTY and Borderlands 2 bundle has the option for me to add to cart so i can buy as gift.
BUT the option is faded in the Borderlands Triple Pack bundle so i cant select it.
(and when cursor is over it i get the same message as you)

Both bundles however i already own the entire contents,so i dont kno why it works for one and not the other

bundles are tailored to each account. you can not buy it at your price to gift it away.
