Using cracked game to install LEGALLY bought Steam game, How?
Hi there! As the tittle says i just bought not one but two copies of Alien VS Predator so we can play together on LAN (dedicated server) with some friends and my brother.
But it happens that i have the files of a SKYDROW cracked AVP AND my Internet sucks since is metered/Limited and i don't want to download 18 GB once again! =( actually i can't xP
So, simple words, how can i use the files of the cracked version so Steam manager only downloads the EXE's and stuff?
I have already created a Folder on SteamApps/Commons with the Name "Alien vs Predator" i pasted the gamefiles (Without .exe or ini files) but Steam doesn't recognize them and goes to the folder "Downloading" to get new stuff from the Internet.
I have also tried moving the game files to the Downloading folder but it doesn't make any difference! =(

You're going to have to simply reinstall the game via Steam...all 18GB of it.

Watch out: The moderators on this forum don't exactly like piracy talk. Or to be more precise, they enforce forum rules and the rules dislike piracy.

The game is called Aliens vs Predator and the directory should be the same.

Well while it's a touchy subject... congratulations on actually becoming a supporter of game development and purchasing your copies.

You could try, removing the fishy files in question. Then under your steam game library, right-click on the game, go under it's properties, look under the local files tab and select verify game files. This should compare what you already have with what is valid online, redownloading only the required files.
