The game code will show up until you tell it to stop showing it to you.
The only other thing I could think of that would do something like that to your settings is third party software that has access to the game specifically, like cheat software.
If you assume your computer has a keylogger, run your anti-virus system and scan your computer. Possibly also scan your computer with MalwareBytes https://www.malwarebytes.org/ as another precaution.

I checked it to not to show up months ago. That's what I'm really thinking why is that. I mean I know steam settings reset itself time to time. But this ?
