What are Gift "Subscriptions"?
I bought a gift for a friend and they said they got a gift "subscription" but its just a game. Am I going to get charged monthly for it? It is dont starve together and it only cost me a one off payment when i bought it for myself.

Unless it means DLC subscription? Getting the current and future DLCs for free... but that should be called a "Season's Pass" normally.

Everything on Steam is a subscription. You don't own software your own revokable subscriptions to the current version of something and to future updates.

Only a handful of games have recurring charges though.
