how to get rid of those free games from my steam library?

Go to library, right click the game, click on delete local content and then it will be deleted perminatly from your library until you download it again.

it did not worked. i can delete it from my pc. but it still remains on my games library list. which is at the steam server end, i guess.

You just have to go to your account page and remove the licence.

Click the remove button on the ones you want gone. Any without a remove button you can use the hide game option from the right click menu inside steam (right click the game and go to properties and look for the hide game option)

Remove the license of the free to play game here and it will disappear from your library.
If you really want, you can reinstall it at any time from the store page.
