2k & 4k monitor owners: How is gaming at lower resolutions, like 1080p, on 2k & 4k monitors?
I need to order new monitors, and I was looking at the Dell Ultra HD 4K P2415Q 24". I will probably want to run them it at 1080p for a while, but would rather that the new monitors I buy be good in 10 years or so.

Is gaming really blury? What about editing or other tasks? Have any other comments?

Thanks!

Not sure if this is relevant, but i have a 50" 4K Panasonic TV that i use for gaming, i dont often run games in 1080p resolution, but when i do, there is no "blurriness"
My desktop resolution is set to 1920x1080, (I sit about 5ft away from my TV, hence the screen res, so i can read text, getting older you know.. lol)
Text etc.. is crystal clear, so i would presume a 2k/4k monitor would be fine at that res..
Same here about the text. I'm going to have to get an eye exam soon, heh.
Thank you for the info. I believe that there can be blurriness on the smaller monitors, like a 24 or 27 inch, but want to make sure before making a three-monitor commitment of $900+, heh. :-)

When i run something on 1080p on my 4k monitor images get blurry and amount of white color increases in the overall image im not really sure what is the cause of it but i can clearly notice the blur on menu etc. But while gaming if you don't pay much attention you may not notice it. However when you switch to 4K the difference is like day and night

Thanks. I keep reading this, so I might go with the old 1080p, or my middle monitor being a 4k or 2k, and the others being 1080p.

May I ask which monitor you are using?

Thanks!
I have Samsung U28D590D and i would totally recommend it if you are going to buy one. But be sure that you have a powerful graphics card or you may have problems running at 4K
Yea unlike down-scaling to fit on a 1080p screen (like when running say 720/768p) it's generally not blurry when running 1080p on a 4K (2160p) display. HDTVs might differ a bit, depending on quality, but for LED Monitors, it still looks very good, not blurry.

It happens because when you set the resolution to something other than the monitor's native resolution, the pixel mapping ratio is no longer 1:1. The image being sent to the display needs to be scaled. It means the image isn't as sharp. This is true for all displays, even though some people can't tell, but some models do a better job of the scaling than others.
Yeah thats why it is always best to run at monitors native resolution
