How to enter a line break in Steam chat windows?
I'm trying to figure out how to create a line break

like this, in Steam messages. I've tried shift-enter and it just sends the message. If I copy and paste something with a line break in it then it keeps the formatting though.

Not sure which OS you are using, but for me on Windows it is Ctrl+Enter to create a break line.

Edit: remember that you will need something typed to be able to 'start' the break line. For example you can't just open a chat window and Ctrl+Enter 10 times then start typing; you will need something typed before. In situations like this I usually use something like a period "." then press Ctrl+Enter however many lines you want before you start typing or adding emoticons. Other than that, if you are typing a paragraph and want a line break then you can do break without the need of something like the period.

Examples:
You can do these:
Hi

How are you

.

Hi; how are you

You 'can't' do this:

Hi; how are you

Thanks for the info! I just tried it in the text box I'm replying in and Ctrl-Enter didn't work, but Shift-Enter did. I opened Notepad and both methods work though.
