Also ensure you DDU out your GPU Drivers and get the most recent ones make for Win10 (b1607) anniversary edition; such as http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/105851
Since you've uninstalled it though, I find it somewhat difficult to believe it would still affect though, but there's no harm in trying I suppose.
DO NOT allow the system to be connected to internet when u install or unsinatall hardware drivers, otherwise Windows Updates will auto-download and install those again, but from Microsoft.
- Download what all you need that are the latest drivers.
- Disable your LAN/WIFI device in the OS (easily enabled again when needed)
- Uninstall what you need to Driver wise. Reboot when done.
- Install new drivers. Reboot when done.
- With the device now installed and such, now re-enable LAN/WIFI device.
Now you need to handle Drivers in Win10 like this every time/instance if you wish to avoid WU getting in your way. Otherwise just Disable WU and just re-enable it once a month for those security updates.
That fact that Microsoft is still using WU to auto install Drivers is insane and also much more aggressively too because of Win10 and how that works. None of the OEMs should have ever agreed to that non-sense.
it works, it just won't turn on the steam overlay
