New to PC Gaming
Hey Everyone! Im kinda new to the whole pc gaming thing so Im looking at games to play. I mainly play first person shooters so im just curious whats the best to play. I already have CSGO and Overwatch and a couple other big titles but if there are any smaller less known titles that are pretty fun I'd love to know about them. Thanks!

Thanks! Ill definately get that!
I personally do not like Insurgency. I bought it a few months after release, didn't like it, and then tried it again last week to see if anything changed, and it hasn't. The map size to action ratio is way too high for my tastes, combined with wave based respawns that also minimize action.

Some love it, but it's definitely not for me. I have played other wave spawn games that have a lot more action that Insurgency.

Here are some of my recommendations: (no particular order)

* F2P: Dirty Bomb - I can't speak highly enough about this game. I absolutely love it. It is VERY well done. Of course, we all have different tastes.

This game features 19 (NINETEEN) different mercs! With 3 mercs on free rotation. It has a similar feel, motion and mechancis to Wolfenstein ET and Quake Wars. It's high speed, heavy action, wave spawn, objectve based game.

* DOD:S Day of Defeat Source. It's an older game, but still enough pop to have fun with. I've had a ton of fun with it. Some also recommend the original, but I've never played that one.

* RO2 Red Orchestra 2 - It's been quite awhile since I played it, but I'm going to start playing again. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The feel and vibe are great

*F2P: TF2 Team Fortress 2 - This, along with Dirty Bomb, are on my list of "must try" games. It is old, but still in FULL swing, tons and TONS of stuff, modes, maps, crazy stuff..... It's known not only as a fun game, but it's epic trade system and virtually unlimited items you can trade and buy. Don't go trading until you've read several good guides and gotten advice, or you will get ripped off. Even though it's F2P, if you find out fast that you like it, spend a 50 cents or buck in the Mann store and it will grant you a permanent premium account which will boost your drops and other stuff. I haven't played in awhile but that's what I remember.

Don't spend more than a buck in the store just to get the premium account. Everything else can be had much cheaper on the trade market. If you need metal to buy on the market, then buy keys in the store and sell the keys on the market for metal, and then buy items with metal. Buying stuff straight from the store is a ripoff, but some do it because they don't want the hassle of trading.

* F2P Tank games: World of Tanks, War Thunder, Armored Warfare. All are different, although WT and AW are the most similar. WoT is more arcade style. WT also has a mixed plane mode, as well as dedicated plane mode. WoT has the most difficult to understand crew training system, and no one plays that game without getting burned on it at least once, but it's still good. There always guides and stuff, of course, or you can just play more casual and not worry about it.

* F2P: Tribes Ascend: This game is almost dead, for a number of reasons, however, there are still a few servers up, and since it's free, I recommend trying it out if you never played any Tribes games. Even at it's peak, it was never nearly as good as the first 2 in the series, but it was still lots of fun. Then the Devs tried to correct their mistakes, but unfortunately, they made it even worse, so there's not many left now, but I still recommend trying it.

* Nuclear Dawn: Try to catch this one on sale, or trade sites. It is just about totally dead, but there are still enough during some peak hours to fill a server and some also enjoy playing with less. It is a unique blend of FPS combined with a commander who plays an RTS role and deploys EQ and weps for the team. There are issues, and pitfalls and bugs, but it's something that is worth checking out. The commander role can be hard to get into, and people will gripe at you sometimes, etc. It's just one of those things, but, play around on bot servers for awhile to learn some basics, and just gradually learn about it. Of course, you don't have to Com, many don't. You can just do field work, but if no one plays Com, your team will definitely lose. Like I said, catch it on sale unless you just have bucks to blow.

* Rocket League - This isn't a 'shooter' .....it's a crash up derby car soccer, ice hockey and basket ball game, but I feel I have to mention it. I'm having so much fun with it, it's crazy. Watch it on Twitch and see what you think. Actually, watch everything on Twitch or Youtube and see what you think!

Good luck!

Just wanted to say welcome and hope you have a blast with PC Gaming. There are so many amazing PC games out now that you'll be quite busy for months even years. A lot of them are relatively low priced too.
Can't believe I forgot to mention PS2 PlanetSide 2. F2P Combined Arms I started back in beta and played and quit 3 times, but it has finally improved to the point where I have spent good money on it. It still has issues, but we are all hoping that they will get worked out over time. It's F2P so you have nothing to lose.

They recently implimented a construction system which some like and some don't. It needs more work but it is playable. This system adds an RTS element to the game, allowing people to build large scale bases, or small ones if you prefer.

There are 3 factions in this game, instead of the typical 2 teams, which spices things up. You can play all 3 on a free account.

* I wasn't going to mention this one, but alas, it will always be a favorite even if it is gasping it's last breath. FireFall, primarily PvE, but also some PvP. It has had a temultious history, tons of changes, tons of complaints and lost players, but, it is still running, and free, so it can't hurt to play it. There are rumours of a Chinese company taking over and keeping it alive, but we really don't know much at this point. Even with all of the changes, it still has a great vibe, so I would try it out.
fps?

you might like Verdun then.

its a WW1 trench fps with a focus on realism.

so don't be surprised if you die an awful lot.
