It's kind of silly to demand ps4 controller support in games that came out before the ps4 was out.
The PS3 controller never had any official PC drivers, everything was running on homebrew software so few developers felt any demand to add the playstation buttons to their games, it not until now we start seeing it somewhat.
Steam are trying to fix this somewhat with their steam input stuff, if you edit your controlls in games that have steam input then it will show the right button no matter what your mapping is or if you are using xbox, ps4 or steam controllers. Still, not many games support this.

I wonder what PC gaming would be today if the 360 controller didn't work with windows in the way that it did 10 years ago, I bet we would have less console ports on PC. Sony are the ones late to the party here.
