PS4 controller buttons confused with XBOX controller
I use DS4 and InputMapper to use my PS4 controller, I don't have any XBOX controller. I can play fine with the PS4 controller but have a problem the button layouts. The games tells you XBOX controllers buttons and not the PS4, so I get confused easily, especially during quicktime events like Telltale Games or other games. Especially the X button, since they both use X and they both color it blue, it's confusing. When it tells me to hit the X button, I'll press the X button on the PS4 controller and not the square where it's supposed to be because it's using the XBOX layout.

So I keep messing up because of that. Then when you do try to fix the buttons with the ps4 controllers, it'll say like Button1, Button2, for the PS4 controller. Wtf is that? Where as for XBOX, it'll say X, Y, A, B, why can't they just show the picture of the square, triangle, circle, X? Like, it's so confusing, like Button1 is X, but Button 2 is R1, and button 3 is start, or whatever the f it is. How the hell am I supposed to memorize that?

How do I make things simple for PS4 controller here like for XBOX controller? I just want the prompt to come up and tell me triangle, circle, X, no Y, A, B, no Button1, Button 7. I can't get used to it because I switch and play ps4 games on my playstation 4 where they do tell you to press the triangle button, so I literally have to sit there, and think hard and memorize where the Y button is and the B button is when playing Steam games with PS4 button, I can't look down, or I'll keep pressing X when it tells me to press X and won't work because I'm supposed to press square. Or when I do go back to ps4 games on my ps4, I press square when it tells me to press X, but I just finished a Steam game. SO CONFUSING! It's driving me mad, please help! Thanks.

What games are you talking about?

It's kind of silly to demand ps4 controller support in games that came out before the ps4 was out.

The PS3 controller never had any official PC drivers, everything was running on homebrew software so few developers felt any demand to add the playstation buttons to their games, it not until now we start seeing it somewhat.

Steam are trying to fix this somewhat with their steam input stuff, if you edit your controlls in games that have steam input then it will show the right button no matter what your mapping is or if you are using xbox, ps4 or steam controllers. Still, not many games support this.

I wonder what PC gaming would be today if the 360 controller didn't work with windows in the way that it did 10 years ago, I bet we would have less console ports on PC. Sony are the ones late to the party here.

Now I see that this was an old thread, oh well.
