Moving to Europe for work. Keeping my Australian Steam account
Hey everyone,

Titile says it all really, but I want to know the correct procedure for changing my phone number and country on Steam.

I will have two weeks back in Australia before moving to Ireland permenantly. During the intermittant period I would like to remove my Australian phone number from my account. I won't have a new number to add once I move back here.

I've used Steam for a long, long time -but I haven't ever really used any of the admin features.

Can anyone offer some help and/or advice please?

If you want to change your phone number, go to your account settings
  • In Steam client or web browser, click on your Steam account name at the top-right corner
  • If you're using a web browser on your phone, slide right or click on the three bars icon at the top-left corner

Then click on Manage your phone number

Now Change number
(You can also remove your number here)

Then you will receive a SMS code and put it in the field.

Now put in your new phone number.

The next steps I do not really know since I frequently trade and don't want a temporary trade ban (Which usually occur when you change any vital account information) so won't I take any risks. Regards.

Note why are you removing the phone # just because you're going abroad. The phone # is only used as a account recovery mechanism. Its not needed unless you forget your password or you lose your authenticator.

The authenticator itself, if you want to just log in, works offline. The phone # is irrelevant to that part other than the intitial setup.

Ooooh ok. I don't think I have an authenticator though. Do you mean something akin to the Blizzard authenticator?

I'd say so, it is similar to the Google Authenticator. You have limited-time codes on your mobile which you sometimes need to log into other devices.
