Monitor shuts down after playing high demanding graphics games.
so whenever i play games like far cry primal or mad max or any games that is highly demanding for graphics my monitor shuts down. Although the PC itself is still on. Then sometimes I could still hear sounds from the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

here are my specs
mobo:Gigabyte 990fx
cpu: AMDfx 6300
gpu: GTX970 evga
psu: corsair 650rm
ram: 16gb hyperx
monitor: benq xl2411z
cooler: coolermaster hyper evo 212

Sounds like a power supply problem or a temperature issue

so what would you suggest for me to confirm the issue? like how do I run tests on the power supply? thanks for commenting btw

You can't. You can replace it with another one and see if it happens again.
I have the feeling it's not the monitor, but your videocard turning off.
What does the temperatures say when it happens? Any interesting stuff in the Windows event log?

post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here

check temps while gaming
use hwmonitor, it logs min/max temps
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
alt+tab takes long enough for the cpu/gpu to drop 20+c
What do you mean by "monitor shuts down"?

Does the screen go black?
Does the screen flash "No signal"?
Is there a power light on the monitor still when it "shuts down"? If so, what color is it?
To get the image back on the screen do you have to turn the monitor off and on or do you have to reboot your entire computer?

the monitor goes no signal. yes there is power light on the monitor. i guess it's just the display that goes out. the image is black and yes i have to shutdown the pc entirely to start it up again.

Sounds like a GPU issue. Could be from a few things:

1) Video driver could be crashing. You can check event viewer (google it if you don't know how) to see if there are any errors listed in the System logs.

2) PSU is failing at providing proper power to the system. In the BIOS it has a location where it shows the +12V, 3.3V and 5V power readings. As the naming suggest, 12V should read out around 12V, 3.3V should be 3.3V and same with the 5V.

If you're not sure how to access the BIOS or where to find this info, you can always download HWMonitor. It will provide you with voltage readings for your PSU and temp readings.

3) GPU is faulting. Could be to overheating or that it's just failing. There are a handful of different programs out there that'll monitor GPU temps. HWMonitor is one. You can also use GPU-Z, MSI Afterburner and so on.

so i checked what you said. 1 and 2 checked out fine. no errors on the system log and the psu is delivering power fine as well. so i guess it is just overheating. i guess i just have to manually controll the fan on the gpu so make it last longer when playing games. thank you so much for the help!

Hopefully it is just running hot and the PSU or GPU aren't failing. A failing PSU or GPU can do odd things.

I've seen a failing PSU quit providing power to all items plugged into the USB ports to not allowing a GPU to function at its full potential. A failing PSU can cause driver crashes, system restarts or even loss of image (but this can also happen if the PSU is not functioning well and providing enough power).

Monitor the temps and see how things go from here on out.

@Fluffy, do can help us ? my monitor turned off screen " "No signal" when starting game.

Does your computer have an integrated card? I would try to rule out the GPU by connecting the monitor to the motherboard. (Yes, it means your games will run badly but it's worth doing to see what happens).

could be the power supply

check what mod plugs are being used from it for the gpu
try the other 8/6+2 port on the psu for the pci-e power cable
if the gpu has 2x 6/6+2, plub both in, do not use the chained calbe/split

else get a better quality psu, that brand is unknown, most likely overrated

I'm investigating bit to find a source problem rare.
Titule " Monitor turned off the signal "does not connect" when I opening games, it is case rare"

Good quality PSU? https://outervision.com/b/E62SyR
- Looking this link if good PSU. Next i will buy new PSU.

Hardware Monitor screenshot in https://prnt.sc/sgga07
- See the temperature, it never reaches 70ºC or overheated. I don't use overclocked like that. I playing more 2 hours in-game heavy without problem.

I am thinking possible 3 main problem.
1. it is necessary to clean dust power supply. Because I haven't cleaned since 3 years.
2. NOX brand is poor quality. or buy new PSU.
3. It is problem voltage limit? I checked BIOS update lastest in 2018.
