help! xbox controller turns off pc

wanted to play some world at war zombies so i plugged in my xbox one controller via usb. plugged it in and it reboots my entire pc. it has worked in the past. does this every time i plug it in now. does anyone know of any way to troubleshoot this? thanks

Sounds like your USB ports are shorting out. Does it only happen on one USB port or all of them?

All of them I only have one

When I plug something else into my PC it doesn't turn it off but I don't know about other controllers I only have one controller

Are you using any specialised drivers? It may be conflicting with Windows (or damaged/corrupted) causing it to reboot whenever you use your controller.

this only started happening a couple of days ago so this might not be the problem, but I'll still try to find the drivers and update them, thx

tried updating all drivers which are called 'usb input device', says the best drivers for my pc are installed. anyone else have any other suggestions?
