Steam data transfer HELP!
I just got a new computer, and i want to transfer saves and data from my old one to this computer. Ive tried using a usb, i copied my common folder and replaced my new computer's common folder with the old one, but it doesnt work. First of all it doesnt say that they are linked to this steam account on this computer, then when i install them, it says 'discovering old data' or something then it gives me the game, but NO SAVES!!!!! how can fix this? ive played over 150 hours on a single character on darksouls 2 and im not giving that up!

If you want your saves you'll have to copy them over. Most games save in the My Documents folder.

thanks, ile try that, but there is other stuff i want other than saves. I want to be able to bring over blockstorm, and a few other games like that.

i made tons of textures
Copy the game to the common folder, and the appmanifest_###.acf files from the steamapps folder to the new steamapps folder so Steam will recognize the game.

I just thought of something, i wanted to avoid it because of the large amount of time it would take, but would this work? if i actually copy the entire steam folder over and delete the new one with no saves?
That would work fine. Your saves aren't stored in the Steam folder usually, so you'd still need to back those up manually.

yeah i heard. But i cant delete the new folder, would it be the same to just drag the old steam folder over the new one and let it replace it, or would it work fine too if i just do the steam apps folder?

Copy the whole Steam folder. That's by the way recommended by Calve.
The reason you can't delete the folder is likely that Steam is open in the background. I would copy the folder over, but I would close Steam before doing so to prevent any problems.

Did you exit Steam? Just closing the window does not close Steam.
