How to remove unscheduled downloads?
A number of titles are in my unscheduled list, which I presume steam will schedule to download at some point, how may I remove them from this list? I do not wish to remove the games.

Set Steam not to update them automatically. That'll stop Steam from thinking about updating them (until you start them).

Okay, I have written a script to solve this problem, but it only seems to work for library content that is already present on my machine. Is there a way to set the flags for content that is not yet installed?

Nope. Steam was built around keeping games updated and it never left its roots (not this particular one anyway).

If i had less games installed or faster internet it probably would be okay, but as it stands the updates are released faster than my download speed, resulting in an endless queue and a constant drain on my limited bandwidth. I could limit my bandwidth, but then I'd just have to change it back whenever the game I want to play has an update. Consequently, managing the updates myself seems to be the best solution.

Bandwidth is limited anyway, there's literally no way in this universe to have unlimited bandwidth.
That said, an option would be to uninstall games you don't intend on playing anytime soon. That's what I ended up doing (more for the sake of storage space than limited traffic).

Uninstall something that is already there, just to prevent the automatic updates. Not really a sound solution. I'd have to spend a great deal more bandwidth simply reacquiring the titles, but HDD space is cheap even now.

Regardless, everything in my queue is now set to 'update on launch'. Ordinarily this would involve inspecting the properties of every installed title.

You can simply read the various steam library paths from 'libraryfolders.vdf' and then set the requisite flags for each file present in steamapps

Can you rename/remove the ACF file, so steam doesnt check for game files to update?

I can try that but I've already set the flags per ACF file, deleting it would probably warrant more trouble, unless the game is DRM free
