how to customize the buttos of my controller (DS4, Xbox controller, etc) with steam

im buying the steam link, and i was trying the big picture mode to get use to it, and i conected my xbox 360 controller to play unturned, and there was no way to adjust the buttons with steam without have to do it inside the game, and i tryed again with dirty bomb and the same, i had to select every button manually inside the game options. I know those are F2P games that shouln't support it, but i have seen that steam let you configure the steam controller to make it work on any game, and i wonder if i could do de same with another kind of controller

Steam doesn't handle controller mapping except for maybe their own controller. Have to config each game manually for most 3rd party controllers in-game. Microshaft XBOX 360/One controllers have a high compatibility rate with games but once again, their config is handled by each individual game. The issue here is with developers adding proper functionality to their games, not the controller mfgrs or Steam.

Either you use what the game allows you to customize (most don't allow Controller remapping) or you remap manually via an app like X360CE

For Sony DS3/DS4 stuff try instead, using app BetterDS3 or BetterDS4
