Weird slightly slow motion in games [solved]
Hey! So I've been playing black desert online and I noticed that all of my animations seem a little bit slow. I don't know exactly the cause of this problem but Its been bothering me. The only thing I've done recently is take out my GPU (gtx 970) and clean it (was making an obnoxious clicking noise due to what i believe to be a wire in the fan) and put it back in again. Before cleaning it, I had a solid 60 fps. After cleaning somehow I got 80 fps and the fans on my GPU don't run but my rig is somehow cooler than before. Any more testing I should do, or anyone ever have this problem before? Here is a video to show the slow motion. You can tell it is slow mo because a 3.0 second animation takes 4 seconds if you use a timer.

Thanks!

Fans don't run + cooler temps makes me wonder if your GPU is being used at all. Is it possible the game is using your integrated GPU?

I'm not too knowledgeable on this stuff, would the game run this well without my GPU? I only have the one card and idk how strong integrated GPU is. The fact it's running on higher fps is what confuses me. I figured it would just run like crap if my GPU was dead.

I'm suspecting you had v-sync enabled, which will lock the FPS to your refresh rate (which is usually 60 FPS.) The game's recommended card is a GTX 670, which your GTX 970 is more than a match for.

That being said, I would be a little surprised if your IGPU pulled 80 FPS with the minimum card being a GTS 250. I suppose it depends on settings and resolution, too.

Hmmm.. the v sync might be true. I'll check when i get home. The fans don't start on boot up either so that's worrisome.

So I really don't know what I did but I rolled back my drivers , restarted the computer, then reinstalled the new drivers for my GPU and my fans on my card are running and the game is at 60 fps and not in slow mo :) thanks for the help!
