Rightclick on empty icon > delete
Then I head back to steam > Library > Click game I want > rightclick > Create desktop Icon.
I tried this with 5 more games and it shouldn't be a problem. Every game with an empty icon was restored to it's original icon.
if you want them on your taskbar, just drag and drop.
Thanks, but that doesn't really answer my question. The issue I'm having seems to be only with this one game, and I've never seen it do this before. Besides, I don't want the icons to appear on my desktop, just the taskbar.
Will the process you describe make the icons stay on the taskbar after I quit the game and sign out of Steam?
Create desktop icon.. Drag desktop icon on the taskbar. It's fairly simple.
If the same issue keeps coming back.. Are you using a 3th party cleaner that might have cleared "icon caches"
CCleaner does this if you specify this.
Here are the instructions to rebuild Icon cache in windows:

If that doesn't help, try asking users on the rage forums if they're dealing with the same problems. Either rage doesn't have an icon included, or your icon's aren't correctly displayed by windows.

I unistalled the game, and I'm reinstalling now to see if that took care of the issue. So it'll take a few hours before I can check the executable has the icon right.
