Personally, I have Origin's in-game overlay disabled and "automatically exit Origin after closing a game" enabled, and I launch both the game and the Origin client through Steam and it works.

(Make sure Origin is off before you launch the game's executable through Steam as a "non-Steam game")

when you mean you launch the origin client and the game in steam is like, having a shorcut for origin, and other for the game, so i open origin first and later the game in steam? i will try that, i tried to open origin or the game first disable overlay but never both like this.

Close both the game, and your Origin client.

Put the game's executable under Steam, and launch the game through Steam.

This should re-launch Origin, and then launch the game.

EDIT: Ah yeah, bad wording on my part in the previous post, sorry about that.

Did you set it to launch the game and Origin at the same time?

You should be able to change this in the shortcut's properties. I forget exactly where it is and I can't check atm.
i tried to launch the game, the origin pretty much any combination, also some tutorials in internet, i changed the hotkeys to f12 f11 shift tab, but it don't appear, the origin overlay if enabled appear just fine (but i disabled it cause i want the steam one)
You could also try to add Origin.exe to your Steam as a non-Steam -game. Then add this to the Target field
origin://LaunchGame/OFB-EAST:50885

It should look like this
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\Origin.exe" origin://LaunchGame/OFB-EAST:50885

The said ID appears to be visible under the game's Store -page's source code under product_id, but the above should launch Dead Space 3.

it launched the dead space just fine launchinjg origin with this target, but no steam overlay still :/
Okay I will post MY SOLUTION here and link to here from other posts (there are far to many posts with the same problem to be found. Whoever finds this, sorry that i didn't link it everywhre...)

I have Win10x64 and wanted to stream "Star Wars Battlefront" via steam overlay.

  1. enable "automatically exit Origin after closing a game"
  2. deactivated origin overlay
  3. Add Origin as a non-Steam game.
  4. Right-click the newly added shortcut in Steam and select properties.
  5. In the target box, after "C:...\Origin.exe" add a space and copy+paste: origin://launchgame/Origin.OFR.50.0000940 (no quotes). Origin.OFR.50.0000940 is the game's product ID for Origin (this can be found by going to the game's webpage at origin.com and searching the source code of the webpage for "product_ID". The whole thing that is copy+pasted is the launch protocol for Origin games (Steam uses a similar one that is utilized when you create desktop shortcuts of games).
  6. Change name to "Star Wars Battlefront".
  7. make sure origin is not running when you start a origin game from steam
  8. quit steam
  9. right-click on steam link. go to properties->compatibility and activate the Win7 compatibility mode
  10. start steam and click on the edited origin shortcut (in steam)

That's how it worked for me. Probably not the only solution but the only one working for me I found in 2 days.
Hope it works for you as well!!! Enjoy!

So..

Practically exactly what I said in pieces in July plus the compatibility mode (which I personally don't need on my Windows 10) and some different browser protocol as Origin's launch argument?

EDIT: And the different protocol is likely due to the different game

Do you know the product_ID for Battlefield 1 Beta? I can't figure out how to find it.

Why not just put Battlefield 1's exe to Steam, close Origin and then launch the game through Steam?

I know that's what I do.

Anyway, it's Origin.OFR.50.0001388

So i.e. Origin's target field would be
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\Origin.exe" "origin://launchgame/Origin.OFR.50.0001388"
