Who To I Email To Ask For My Discount Back?
I'm absolutely livid. I don't have very much money and so I usually wait for either the Summer or Christmas sales to buy my games. I spent two days, yesterday and the day before that combing through all the deals and deciding which games I genuinely wanted and were worth spending money on. TWO DAYS! That's literaly all I did for two days, was browse Steam while listening to DBZ Abridged in the backgroud. Then last night, like six hours before the sale ended I finally finished deciding and clicked the button in my cart to buy everything. Now usually whenever I buy something from Steam it takes a few minutes to process the purchase. Like I've waited ten minutes before now for it to get to the page that says I've purchased everything and asks if I would like to install them all and all that. It was 6:30 in the morning, I had been up all night and was too tired to play any of the games, so I just decided to go to bed. I get up this afternoon, go to my computer and Steam is still at the damn checkout screen! The purchase didn't go through, the loading wheel at the top right corner of the sceen had just been spinning all night. I restart Steam to try again but by now the sale is over and all the games I SPENT TWO DAYS AGONIZING OVER have gone back to their original prices! I Googled why this might have happened and I found that people who added certain game bundles from the sale ended up having the same problem I had where the purchase would not go through. Since I added several of the same bundles I figure this is must have been why the Steam store froze.

I want to email Steam and ask them to give me the discount I would have gotten anyway had the sale gone through. Who do I email to ask for this and what is their email address?

They only sell games for the current price. If they are not on sale now then you can wait for the next sale.

You had 11 days. Eleven.

My mother was in surgery and the hospital for most of the sale. I didn't have time to bother with the sale until the last few days it was on.

It was a mistake on Steam's part that the purchase I made during the sale time didn't go through. In light of this I'm hoping they will make an exception.

You can contact support, but they're just going to say the same thing that I said. I don't even think there is a way to offer a lower price than what it is currently selling for.

Technically it was a mistake on your part not verifying that the purchase went through correctly.

You wouldn't walk away from a physical cash register before making sure you got your receipt and the cashier handed you your purchase - you shouldn't do it in a virtual store either.

It's the internet. Any little hiccup between here and there can cause a transaction to fail. And it doesn't even have to be Steam's fault.

I'm sorry for what you've been through and I understand your frustration - maybe Valve will make an exception. If they don't, wait for the next sale. But in the end the fault was ultimately yours and you should be sure to check your purchases next time.

Also, a little advice, don't wait until sales start before beginning to decide what's worth buying. There's no reason you couldn't have made these desicisions a month ago or more.

Note you not confirming the actual purchase isn't team's fault

By your own admission you had 2 days to buy the games. You chose not to. Again that isn't Steam's fault. Its yours.

Lack of planning on your part doesn't constitute and emergency on Steam's part

I just wanted to tell Steam why I missed the sale and ask them if they could cut me a break. Like not demanding that they give me a discount or yelling at them like it was their fault or something, I just wanted to tell them what happened and if it wasn't a great deal of trouble for them could they please give me the discount anyway?

Then I come here to ask how to contact them and I get: "Its your fault you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up you idiot, how dare you ask Steam for something!"

:wat_creep: Really?

Like these games were supposed to be the equivalent of birthday presents. Cause like I think I said I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ poor and this is the only way I can afford to buy games at all. So missing this sale effectivly means I'm missing out on my birthday this year.

So could someone please explain me how the hell it is that I'M the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in this scenario just becuase I'm disappointed that I missed my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ birthday? :angry_creep:

You dont realise that with this logic everyone could email Valve demanding discounts that they missed?

Sorry but thats not how RL works. You miss a sale: tough luck.

You are not an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, just unreasonable

No one is demanding anything. I just want to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ask them. :steamfacepalm:

I don't understand why everyone has such a problem with this.

Well, starting off with "I am livid" is kind of your first problem. Your attitude sets off an antagonistic tone from the onset. Then the sob story making it sound as though you're entitled to discounts is another. Your reaction to people telling you in no uncertain terms that you won't get a discount is the third. Not being able to click the Support button and discover the ticketing system on your own is a fourth, because there is no e-mail to be had.

In any even, again, read through https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2025-HCVM-4206#missedsale again. I'll even copy it out in case it's unclear:

I missed a sale, can I still get the expired sale price?
Due to strict contracts with our partners, we cannot offer a sale price once it has expired. This is the case regardless of the circumstances under which a sale is missed.

So, no, you're not getting the discount and contacting Steam Support will just be a waste of their and your time.

I am impressed in how effective your finish was, just saying.

Should your purchases have the [Failed] mark here: https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithPurchase you should be able to retry the purchase with the same discounts. (This option exists for 72 hours after a purchase is detected as failed, but unsure whether it would in this context.)

If not, then too bad.
