How do I change the phone number after changing my SIM card?

So, I had a phone number saved in here, but a few days ago, I had to change my SIM card number. I've tried to change the number in here to my new one, but it always sends an SMS to the ol number. How do I change it without having the old one with me? I've tried to see if anyone already has my old number, but a guy from the phone company said that the number counts as deactivated and is only used again after six months.

Contact Support. They will ask for Proof of Ownership so have that on hand.
