Sale Trading Cards and Trade Holds/Blocks

Why, if I want to trade a card with a RL friend, or even gift them a card, there is an automatic 24-hour hold on the trade?

That means my friend can't get the card before 9 am on 7/4/2016, in order to craft the badge.

I cancelled the trade so I could gift it to him, and instead I get a trade block.

It's a freaking 6-cent card...it's easier to do online banking than it is to do a Steam Trade!

ikr, stuck with a 15day wait until i get the last few cards to finish this badge, but they would have expired before then :/

It doesn't make any sense, @echelon. They want us to participate in trading and crafting of badges, but how can we do that if there's a 24-hour hold (or 15-day hold in the case of some people, as I am just now finding out), and the cards expire by then?

I can't even submit this problem to Steam Support!

And all I was trying to do was explain to my friend why the badges were fun and what you get when you craft a badge, and instead I get the "that's too much work and hassle for a badge".

Yeah, I'm starting to agree with him there...

so cards can expire while they are on hold? i was going to go for the next badge level, should i just sell my extras?
