How to provide proof of ownership??
HI, I'm about to contact support about one of my other steam accounts, and I'm also trying to write down something to be used as adequate proof of ownership for each of my accounts. The problem is, on all of the other accounts, CS:GO is the only game (CS:GO doesn't have a CD Key), on one occasion, it was gifted. The game was purchased with prepaid cards, so I don't think I can provide proof of ownership. Is there anything else I could do?

Thanks! :)

Buy a cheap game on each account with a credit card or other payment method that qualifies as proof.

The prepaid credit card numbers are proof of ownership (keep them around). As are wallet codes. Literally whatever payment method you can think to use is proof of ownership.

Phone number doesn't count as proof of ownership when you're reclaiming an account through support.

But the phone number can be used to recover the account without going through the support.

Not if the phone is lost and he needs to provide proof of ownership to change the number.

In his own words:

A phone number doesn't constitute "adequate proof of ownership".

Yep, that's what I meant. even if things get so messed up that he still will need support, usually with a phone number added the tickets are resoved much, much faster.
With phone number, but without actual proof, nothing will be resolved at all.

My account as well as my email had been hijacked. I recently got back the email, and saw the email from steam support confirming the email transfer. It says I need to provide proof of ownership. I was in the process of securing my other accounts as well, the problem is that I have only CS:GO, a game without a CD key, and I either bought them with prepaid cards, or they were gifted. In the case of reclaiming, I think I can provide the original email, so I'm hoping to be able to do that, but in the case of the others, I think I'll have to buy a low cost game and save the cd key.

Of course a proof doesn't proof anything if you lose said proof, but this is the same with a credit card you don't own anymore, a gift card you have thrown away, a paypal account that is closed and a bank account that wasn't yours but the one from your Ex that doesn't talk to you anymore - or a phone you can't even ask the provider for a new sim card anymore if it is lost or stolen.

Two or more ways to proof you are the owner of the account are always better.

I got an account back even after the young man deleted the phone number from it shortly before the account got hijacked and we had no more proof than that phone.

Conclusion: if you depend on ONE kind of proof, don't lose it, whatever it is!
I understand that now, and that's why I'm trying to write down the credentials, adding a phone number, and writing down proof of ownership for each in case one gets stolen. At the time, I was really too young to understand I'd need to do that.
