You can enable family sharing. Then, all you'll need to do is login once on your friends computer to verify that machine/account for the shared library, and vice versa.

It should be noted though, you cant play games from the same library at the same time. So if your playing a game from Your library, your friend can't.

:e1big: Hello Col, you should read this guide https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3784-QLBM-5731 , Good luck !
So if i understand correctly, i have to login from his computer and authorized his account and then my friend has to login from my computer and authorized my account.
Is that it?

You have to have the family sharing enabled for your accounts. Then you can log in to your account from their computer to authorize it.

That's the weird thing. I have three friends I never logged onto the devices of able to join my family sharing. I do not get what is registered as "Same household activity" on this thing besides just playing together a lot, because that is the only difference of variable between three of my friends I shared with and two others, whom I am also good friends with, who can't because their accounts don't have "Same household activity."

Which, it may have changed in the recent years to try to adjust to how some people aren't comfortable with others logging into their devices, but it boggles my mind what quantifies as "Same household activity" and what doesn't.

The old Family Sharing is not the same as the new Steam Families still in beta as of 2024.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
