Steam Games Backup (Steam cuts 50-100% of game data) (no appmanifest files!)
Steam recognizes and attempts to recover or use existing files, it ends up shoving the entire folder to a separate download folder and then starting from scratch to download the game again.

I backed up some game one day ago aprox due to PC problems, I return today to install them, for example, ArmA 3, both equals same size upon copying them over again, I press install, it does its thing and checks existing data, then it just throws away 50% of the game and tells me I have to download it again, is this really how it works or am I doing something wrong?

Help/Tips appreciated as my net is far from good, it's also limited.

EDIT: It turns out to be that I had deleted ALL of my appmanifest files that is bound to the downloaded games, and I don't know if I can restore theese manually or if I'm boned. I've already tried some but maybe I'm doing it wrong since it dosent wanna accept the game at all.

built-in backup backup 75-99% of game, other DL from steam cdn
if your backup used only 50% it mean new game updates, broken backup or incorrect backup
you can backup game folder + %gameID%.asf
Life crisis averted, it turned out to be a simple RAM error...
Not sure if broke or just shady. Anyways, I'm back! :D
=> data on hdd broken when you make backup

Hm... So I dropped the oar and I cannot reach it?

It sucks since ArmA 3 wanted me to DL above 20 GB of data and the full game basically sits in the backed up location.

Tested on one game, basically 99% of the game data was USELESS. And also, that RAM issue was nothing, I managed to back up all my data and i ensured multiple times it fitted the size of both sides.

I also did the manual way of copying steamapps and Steam.exe and then copying them back over, this did nada to help me get my games back.

I do not have Arma 3 but all my game perfectly archived and restored from the archive, the majority - without downloading any files from the Internet, in addition to security certificates and asf

I remember doing this priciple before, asoon as Steam booted up all games lit up in white, I dident even need to press install, it was all play instantly, but I still had to verify some games manually...

I think I know now why my DL refuses to coop, it is because I were stupid enough to consider all the .acf files in the folder crap so I deleted them, I think that is my root cause for now, do you perhaps know any tips about this?

If all possible, I'd gladly restore them manually as it is my only choice.
