As for providing name and address when purchasing with credit card/gift card, that is just to confirm that it is your card. Valve will not call you or send anything in the mail.
Steam have never called me.
They do send me mails about games on sale which are on my wishlist but they end that one with informing me how to turn of notifications mails in the future so that's not something one have to live with.

the tax is zero sooo.... no sales tax?
Also, remove your account name from your post. It should only be known by you.
So you're blaming valve because they have a physical presence in the state and thus are forced to pay state sales tax?
OOOHKAY LOGIC FAIL
What have fascists to do with sale taxes?
"Tax: Sales tax will be calculated during checkout where applicable"
Digital product sales are DIFFERENT than physical product sales. Just because a state charges tax for a physical product doesn't mean it will charge tax from an online, digital purchase. California, Nevada, Florida are some examples, but there are several others. And of course, if your state doesn't have any sales tax, it won't have any for digital purchases either.
See this chart:
https://www.revenue.wi.gov/Pages/faqs/ise-diggoods.aspx
Under WI law, video games are considered an "additional digital good" thus are taxable.
Change your state's laws if you don't like it. Blaming businesses for complying with the law is stupid.
