Steam Message Sound

I remember that there was a different sound when you received a message until like 2010 maybe? Anyway, is there a way to change it to a custom sound?

I checked it out, and looked at the latest comment on the guide, and it seems like Valve removed the feature of changing Steam's sounds. Bummer, thanks for your searching though.

A friend recently tried something similar to that guide and it worked for him, so I don't know...

I just went through with the guide, and the problem is every time you change the new message notification to something else, it just re-downloads the stock sound when you exit Steam. So it works, until you exit Steam that is.

Okay, I've asked my friend and he said "tell him to use -noverifyfiles as Steam's launch argument"
