Can't use a letter from my country's alphabet for CD-key!

I just bought DOOM from Gamestop in Norway where i live. I wanted to add the game to steam by using the product code. The problem is that i can't use that code because it includes the letter Ø witch is not in the American/English alphabet. i have tried to change the language on steam to norwegian but it's not helping at all.

Do i have to change the whole code at gamestop to hope for a code thats only including letters from the English alphabet or is there anything i can do?

Are you sure it's not the number zero? 0

Try to use 0 (zero) instead of that symbol. I have seen that symbol in CD keys quite often and normally it just means "not an O" to be clearer for the consumer.
